As part of this year’s O-Week, first-semester students were introduced to one of the unique and distinctive academic courses - “Patient, Physician, and Society (PPS).” During the session, students met with the course faculty and learned about the content, structure, and academic process, gaining a clear understanding of expectations and objectives.
The PPS course fully covers the practical and clinical competencies required of a licensed physician and is integrated across all years of the program, providing students with essential knowledge and professional skills for their medical training.
Following this introductory meeting, a hands-on simulation training was conducted. Ken Walker International University instructors guided students through essential steps for responding to an accident and stabilizing a victim until emergency services arrive. During the session, students practiced CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation - a lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops) using medical simulation manikins.
The training was highly interactive and engaging, offering students valuable first-hand experience and building confidence in emergency response skills at the very start of their medical education.
