Ken Walker International University hosted an HIV/AIDS Awareness Day in observance of World AIDS Day. The event was organized by the Ken Walker Medical Society and aimed to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote solidarity with people living with HIV/AIDS.
Held in an interactive format, the event encouraged students to actively engage with key topics related to HIV prevention and transmission. Through educational games and open discussions, participants explored important public health issues in an accessible and engaging way.
Highlights included myth-versus-fact activities and a Wheel of Questions, where students challenged common misconceptions using evidence-based knowledge. The red ribbon activity served as a symbol of global solidarity and support.
Role-play sessions focused on the importance of empathy and effective communication in healthcare, reinforcing the idea that compassionate care is an essential part of medical practice.
The event was made possible through collaboration with several student organizations, including the Tutoring Club and the Debate Club, reflecting a strong spirit of teamwork and social responsibility within the university community.
HIV/AIDS Awareness Day at KWIU demonstrated how student leadership, education, and empathy can contribute to meaningful and positive change.
