Medical Education, like other educational directions, is rapidly changing. These changes became especially remarkable during pandemics with the transformation of the teaching and learning process in a new reality.
Transformation of the teaching, learning and assessment methods and adapting them to the “new normal” in undergraduate medical education is an important challenge. These and other important topics, like the new standards of the World Federation of Medical Education, the possible changes in National Benchmark Document in Medicine, were the major topics for discussion of the meeting of Prof. Gaiane Simonia with the university’s academic and invited staff. It is noteworthy that these documents were intensively used to elaborate the university’s educational programs.
To implement the new approaches in medical education and assess their effectiveness on teaching and learning processes, is one of the main functions of the university’s structural unit - Medical Education and Research Development Department. There is a high interest of the academic and invited staff in medical education and the university has already planned different activities in this direction.
