Ken Walker International University hosted a two-day professional development training program for its academic staff, dedicated to advancing modern medical education, enhancing teaching quality, and strengthening academic integrity.

The training program aimed to support faculty members in implementing contemporary, internationally recognized teaching and assessment methods while developing practical skills for the responsible use of artificial intelligence in higher education.

The first workshop, "Contemporary Teaching and Assessment Methods in Higher Medical Education," was led by Professor Eka Ekaladze, Rector of KWIU. During the interactive workshop, participants explored the principles of outcome-based and competency-based education, constructive alignment, contemporary active learning strategies, effective approaches to teaching clinical and practical skills, and modern models of formative and summative assessment.

The workshop featured practical exercises, small-group activities, case-based discussions, and hands-on sessions focused on transforming traditional lectures into engaging, student-centered learning experiences. Particular emphasis was placed on the development and effective use of assessment tools, including checklists, rubrics, and meaningful feedback strategies.

The second workshop, "Academic Integrity and the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Assessment," was facilitated by Nino Shiukashvili, Head of the KWIU Quality Assurance Office.

Participants explored practical applications of artificial intelligence in teaching and assessment, the principles of effective prompt crafting, current challenges related to academic integrity, and international best practices for the ethical and responsible use of AI in higher education. Conducted in an interactive format, the workshop enabled participants to work with their own teaching materials through practical assignments and collaborative group activities.

Professional development initiatives are an integral part of Ken Walker International University's academic development strategy. KWIU is committed to continuously enhancing the qualifications of its academic staff, promoting innovative teaching and assessment approaches, and fostering educational excellence to ensure the delivery of high-quality medical education for its students.
