As part of the ongoing 'Summer at Emory' program, our students had the opportunity to meet with Giorgi Maziashvili, MD, a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Dr. Maziashvili shared insights from his research in Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Sickle Cell Disease, pediatric asthma, and COVID-19 in children, and led the group on a tour of Emory’s Health Sciences Research Building II (HSRB-II).
The eight-story, 350,000-square-foot HSRB-II is home to more than 1,000 researchers and 130 principal investigators across diverse fields, including pediatrics, biomedical engineering, cardiovascular medicine, radiology, brain health, the Winship Cancer Institute, and the Emory Vaccine Center.
Beyond research, successful alumnus from Georgia, Tbilisi, Dr. Maziashvili shared his personal journey with USMLE preparation and success, as well as his proactive efforts to find and apply for fellowship programs at Emory. He provided students with valuable resources and assured them of his readiness to guide and advise them in the future.
Currently, Dr. Maziashvili is applying for a U.S. residency program, and we wish him the greatest success in this next step of his career.
