On June 29, 2026, Ken Walker International University and Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi (YSMU) signed a Strategic Framework Agreement, establishing the foundation for a long-term partnership between the two institutions.
The agreement was signed by Professor Armen Muradyan, Rector of Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi, and Professor Gordon Churchward, Chair of the Academic Council of Ken Walker International University.
The partnership aims to support the development of a new educational program in Armenia based on the American model of medical education, drawing on the extensive experience and long-standing academic collaboration between KWIU and Emory University.
Through this collaboration, the two institutions will work together to advance medical education in accordance with international standards. The agreement provides for the development of innovative curricula, the implementation of modern teaching and assessment methodologies, the integration of digital educational systems, the professional development of faculty members, and the strengthening of international quality assurance mechanisms.
One of the key priorities of the partnership will be to create an educational environment that introduces YSMU students to the best practices of American medical education, enhances the international competitiveness of both universities, and supports the development of a modern, USMLE-oriented medical education pathway.
The KWIU delegation to Yerevan was led by Professor Archil Undilashvili, Director of Educational Programs at Emory University. The delegation also included Professor Mary Jo Lechowicz, Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine, as well as representatives of the KWIU administration.
