As part of the Emory-MAEM & KWIU International Congress in Tbilisi, Ken Walker International University welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Emory University School of Medicine. The delegation was led by Dr. David Wright, Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine; Dr. Brent Morgan, Chief of the Division of Medical Toxicology; Dr. Anna Yaffee, Associate Professor and Director of Global Health in Emergency Medicine; and Dr. Ziad Kazzi, Professor of Emergency Medicine and Director of the International Fellowship in Medical Toxicology. The delegation also included faculty members, global health fellows, researchers, and representatives of the Center for Advanced Emergency Care.
During the visit, Professor Archil Undilashvili, Director of Educational Programs at Emory University, delivered a presentation on the 34-year partnership between Emory University and Georgia, highlighting its significant contribution to the advancement of medical education, faculty development, and international academic collaboration.
The delegation was also welcomed by Professor Eka Ekaladze, Rector of Ken Walker International University, who introduced the University's mission, strategic vision, American-model medical curriculum, international partnerships, and commitment to innovation in medical education. The presentation provided an overview of KWIU's academic programs, educational philosophy, and ongoing efforts to prepare future physicians through internationally recognized standards.
During the visit, the delegation met with members of the University's administration, learned about the work of its academic and administrative departments, toured the teaching facilities, and visited the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center, where they were introduced to the University's modern technologies and practice-based learning environment.
Students who participated in KWIU's Summer at Emory exchange program delivered a presentation about the initiative. Lolita Khalvashi and Abdul Aziz Khaleelullah shared their academic experiences at Emory University, highlighting the knowledge and practical skills they gained and reflecting on how the program contributed to their professional development.
The visit represented another important milestone in strengthening the longstanding partnership between Ken Walker International University and Emory University. It provided an opportunity to showcase KWIU's educational model and institutional achievements while fostering dialogue on future collaboration in medical education, research, faculty development, and student exchange.
Ken Walker International University is the local partner of the Emory–MAEM & KWIU International Congress in Tbilisi. Organized by the Emory University Center for Advanced Emergency Care in collaboration with the Mediterranean Academy of Emergency Medicine (MAEM), the Congress will take place in Tbilisi on July 17-18 and serves as an important international platform for Emergency Medicine and Clinical Toxicology. The event promotes knowledge exchange, strengthens international collaboration, and creates valuable academic and professional opportunities for students and healthcare professionals.
