Nino Pirtskhelani, Professor of Ken Walker International University, recently paid a working visit to the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, USA. The visit provided an opportunity to explore innovative teaching methods, advanced medical research, and potential collaborations between the two institutions.
During her stay, Professor Pirtskhelani met with leading faculty members, including Professor Peng Jin, Dr. Michael J. Gambello, Kathryn Garber, and Professor Nadia Ali. The discussions focused on modern approaches in teaching medical genetics, current research trends, and opportunities for future collaboration.
In addition, Professor Pirtskhelani attended lectures, seminars, practical training sessions, and clinical case discussions, gaining first-hand experience of Emory University’s innovative teaching practices.As part of the visit, Professor Nino Pirtskhelani also met with Professor Lawrence Boise, Associate Director of the Winship Cancer Institute and Professor of Hematology and Basic Research in Medical Oncology.
One of the key parts of the visit in the USA was the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Arthur M. Blank Hospital, where the Medical Director, Professor Stephanie Jernigan, introduced her Georgian colleague to the center’s modern infrastructure and high-standard medical care.
As part of the collaboration with Emory University, multiple working visits of academic and administrative staff are planned, enhancing the quality of education and professional development.
